deutsch connectors logo Deutsch Contacts & Wedgelocks

The Deutsch common contact system insures that the contact termination system will be compatible throughout the entire line of Deutsch connector products to reduce design alterations and maintain improved performance and reliability. The use of a common contact system eliminates many of the failures reported in harness systems where hundreds of different terminations are used.

  Solid Contacts

Deutsch Solid Contacts The Deutsch solid contact series is designed for use with larger wire sizes in heavy duty applications. This style of contact is manufactured using a cold heading process and solid copper alloy wire. The resulting contact is a closed entry design. The standard finish is nickel, with gold plating as an option. All Deutsch terminals protect the split socket tines with a closed entry stainless steel sleeve.

Solid contacts are available in sizes 4 through 20, and will accommodate AWG 6 through 20 wires.

With the handles fully open, raise selector knob and rotate until arrow is aligned with wire size to be crimped. Loosen silver lock nut and turn green adjusting screw in until it stops. Insert contact with barrel up. Turn adjusting screw counter clockwise until contact is flush with indentor cover. Tighten lock nut. Strip 1/4 " of insulation off of wire and insert into contact. Contact must be centered between indicators. Close handle to form crimp. Handle will release when the crimp is complete. Remove crimped contact and inspect terminal to ensure that all strands are
in crimp barrel.

  Stamped and Formed Contacts

Deutsch Stamped and Formed Contacts Deutsch stamped and formed contacts are designed for use where wire termination costs are of primary concern without sacrificing the reliability of electrical circuits. The stamped and formed contact series is made on a precision stamping machine using flat strip stock, then a durable and corrosion proof nickel plating is applied. Gold is an optional finish. All Deutsch terminals protect the split socket tines with a closed entry stainless steel sleeve or sleeveless design.

Stamped and formed contacts are available in continuous strips on reels up to 4,000 pieces and are ideal for use in high volume automated crimping environments, and the stamped and formed contacts are intermatable with the entire line of solid contcts.

Stamped and formed contacts are available in sizes 12 through 20, and will accommodate AWG 12 -22 wires.

  Wedgelocks

Deutsch Wedgelocks Some of the Deutsch connector series use wedgelocks to position the contacts and ensure continued precise alignment between pin and socket pairs, even after hundreds of connect/disconnect cycles. As an integral part of the assembly/removal process, wedgelocks simply snap into place in the connector shell after the contacts have been inserted, and are easily removed with a hooked extraction tool or needle nose pliers. The wedgelocks are reusable when the connector assembly is reassembled, and are engineered to provide years of use in even the harshest environments.

Wedgelocks are available for DT, DTM, and DTP Series connectors, and work seamlessly with both solid and stamped and formed contacts.
