Basalt Fiber Braided Sleeving
Non-toxic & Non-carcinogenic, Volcano® Sleeve is made from continuous filament basalt fiber and is engineered for protection from temperatures up to 1,200°F. The Basalt fiber is a 100% inorganic, mineral, continuous filament with an excellent high temperature and shock resistance. Basalt fiber is similar to carbon fiber and fiberglass, but basalt has better mechanical properties than fiberglass and is lower in cost than carbon fiber. The volcanic rock sleeve is easy to install and will provide years of protection and good looks. Volcano® Sleeve can be used both for electrotechnical applications & fire protection in the production of cars, airplanes, ships and household appliances.

About The Volcano® Family of Products
The Volcano® family of braided sleeving products are braided with basalt fiber filaments. Basalt fiber is known for its high strength and stiffness, as well as its resistance to heat, chemicals, and UV radiation.
Volcano® Sleeve: These sleeving is made from continuous filament basalt fiber and engineered for protection from temperatures up to 1200°F. Volcano® Exhaust Sleeve: This exhaust sleeve is a specialized braid of highly texturized basalt fiber and structural paracord. The continuous filament basalt fiber braid provides exceptional high temperature and shock-resistant qualities, while the paracord provides stability: flexible on install, the cords will cure in place once exposed to exhaust heat, so the sleeve won’t unravel even under extreme stress.
Volcano® Wrap: This exhaust wrap is made from continuous filament basalt fiber and is engineered for protection from temperatures 1,500°F. When wrapped around exhaust pipes, the unique construction creates attractive and durable finished product.
Tips for Installing & Terminating Braided Sleeving
How To Determine What Diameter Sleeving You Need
Bundle the cords that you’ll be covering and measure the diameter of the bundle. If you want a snug fit, choose a braided sleeving option with a slightly smaller diameter than that of your cables. If you want a loose and flexible fit, choose a braided sleeving option with a diameter that is equal to or slightly larger than that of your cables. Keep in mind that braided sleeving loses 2% to 3% of its length when it expands. Be sure to plan accordingly!
How To Terminate Sleeving with Heatshrink Tubing
Heatshrink Tubing is the ideal way to create a tight, professional finish on any wire, hose or cable management project. Once shrunk, the tubing will hold its reduced state, even at elevated temperatures. This application can be used to protect, color code, brand, or secure ends or sections of braided sleeving. FLEXO® Rounded can retain its form for the lifetime of the product. It is commonly used in both retail and medical applications.
